Railroad system, which provide trains with advance notice of operation conditions ahead, are installed to ensure maximum operating efficiency and to protect against accidents by ensuring safe intervals beween trains.
Included are signals, switches, track circuits, interlocking system, block system and level-crossing signals, etc. Currently, advanced automatic systems such as centralized traffic control systems (CTC), automatic train control systems (ATC), and electric and electronic token block systems are contributing to increase transportation capacity, greater safety, higher management efficiency, and better-quality service.
