Climate change is happening in the world due to greenhouse gas emissions when using various energies, especially the carbon dioxide. In Korea, 86% of the greenhouse gas emissions is carbon dioxide. Transportation accounts for 30% of total emission, and the rate of increase is about 8.1% annually. If greenhouse gases and other air pollutants are accumulated, the environment of the Earth will be negatively influenced like destruction of ecosystem, ozone layer, climate changes, and of course, being harmful to health.
High-speed railroad has almost no pollutant because it uses electricity. Its energy efficiency is twice higher than the automobile, four times higher than the airline. Once high-speed railroad opens, carbon dioxide and dusts will decrease a lot. Therefore, air pollution can be reduced.
