Clean High-speed Railway
CO2 emission in Transportation Sector
- rail : 1500

The main cause of the current erratic weather patterns is greenhouse gas emissions―carbon dioxide, in particular, which is emitted from a variety of energy sources. In Korea, about 86% of greenhouse gas emissions are carbon dioxide, of which 30% come from the transport sector. Each year, the emissions from transport are increasing by 8.1%.The accumulation of greenhouse gases and air pollutants has a harmful effect on human health and the environment, destroying the ozone layer and causing climate change.
The energy efficiency of high-speed trains is twice higher than that of automobiles, and four times higher than that of airplanes. As they are powered by electricity, high-speed trains generate virtually no pollutants.
